Early Valentines Breakfast - Friday

Just a preview of the early Valentines breakfast that I have planned for Julietta, Melania, and 4 of their friends (and moms) this coming Friday morning. It's an Inservice day, so there's no school.

On the menu, we have planned apple streusel muffins, almond poppyseed muffins, heart shaped waffles with whip cream and strawberries, scrambled eggs with ham, oj and chocolate milk.

The girls helped with some of the decorating and making of the party favors/place cards attached to the backs of the chairs. Like I said, I've been trying to come up with things to keep us busy, indoors, on days with cruddy weather, and when their dad has been working late.

I had all of the decorations already, things I had picked up after Valentines Day last year or already had on hand (streamers and such). I figured that breakfast is incredibly inexpensive, and so much fun to have with kids! I hope that I don't have too high of expectations for this little party, but I think it's going to be a ton of fun. Kids in pajamas eating breakfast and doing a craft. How can we go wrong?

Having short term things to look forward to when you're almost 3 and 6 years old is important. The anticipation of it is half the fun. A party a week away is a great distraction from grandparents who are months from coming home.

This reminds me, Melania had a dream about you a few nights ago. It was just about time for Julietta to leave for school, and Melania was still sleeping. I opened her door, went into her room, and began to rub her little head, brushing her hair out of her face. Eyes still closed, she smiled, then slowly opened her eyes. After pausing for a moment, she told me, "I was dreaming about Grandma Janice and Grandpa Skip! I was wearing a shirt with flowers on it. I thought that Grandma Janice was rubbing my head, but I opened my eyes and it was you!" She wasn't sad, but instead was smiling. She seemed happy to have thought that Grandma Janice was rubbing her head. So sweet.

I'll send more pictures of the party, after it is through, next Friday.

We love you guys and wish you were here, but love that you can be there too. I closed my eyes for eight precious minutes of artificial sunshine today and imagined I was laying on your rooftop. It wasn't quite the same, but for now it will have to do.

XOXO,
Tammie
